To tell you the truth, don't know how the price of houses, condos and apartments had double its price. Before the pandemic of 2020, the rental cost of a 3 bedroom house with 1 1/2 bathrooms, big yard, with garage and a a workshop was only C$1,500/month.
Why ONLY $1,500? It's because the renter or tenant of a house (not an apartment, not a townhouse) also has to do all the yard work and the maintenance of its yard (sprinkling of lime on the grass, weeding, trimming and pruning of trees), fence and lawn-mowing of yard grass. The utilities also around $1,000+/month.
Now at present time, a 3 bedroom house with 1 1/2bathrooms is too costly! $3,000/month (With or without workshop, or w/o garage). But because those houses are BRAND NEW! NEWLY BUILT. That's okay if the view is also a plus.
But for old houses $3,000/month that's a TOTAL RIPPED OFF.
For 2 bedrooms with 2 bathrooms rental of $2000 -$2500? Another ripped off!
I don't know why houses are too pricey for ordinary Canadians in Canada when raw materials mostly wood were logged in BC Forest. While labor? I have seen how houses are built here in Canada. The framework of a 3 bedroom (with 3 bathrooms) house can take only a week to build: foundation, posts, walls and roofs. A finished house with all the trimmings, electricity appliances, plumbing and paint could only take 1 month or 1 1/2 month. That EASY if the carpenters have all the right power tools.
