SISU. True Grit. Fear The Night. E.M.P. 333 Days + THE GREAT RAID

 More interesting movies to watch:

SISU - A Finnish concept meaning - Strength of will determination and perseverance.

SISU the movie is based on Aatami's discovery of bulk of gold in the Lapland during the last days of World War II.  While on his journey to the city to bring the loot he encountered group of NAZI soldiers led by a brutal SS Officer who had stolen Aatami's 2 bags of gold. However, Aatami's legendary strength was of no match to these group of cruel Nazi  soldiers as he conquered them one by one and they all met tragic end or ultimate death.

Note: If you like war movies this is something to watch for. Best foreign movie ever on that time period.

TRUE GRIT - This is a cowboy movie based from old movie starring John Wayne. The story of this movie revolves around a 14 year old Mattie Ross (Hailee Stanfield) whose father was murdered by Tom Chaney (Josh Brolin). Mattie had to avenge the death of his beloved father and asked the help from the sheriff named Rooster Cogburn (Jeff Bridges) & Texas Ranger LaBoeuf (Matt Damon). All three of them braved the western territory to find the suspect and murderer. The ending is somewhat on the verge of unhappy ending because Mattie killed one of the bandits but she had fallen into the cave and was bitten by a venomous snake. Rooster Cogburn had to immediately rushed  to save her life but unfortunately she lost a part of her hand.

FEAR THE NIGHT - Starring the female action star  Maggie Q in her portrayal of Tess, the Iraqi war veteran who came home to America to attend her younger sister's bachelorette party in their parents farm house. On the way to the farm, Tess, her sister  and their group of friends stopped by at the convenience store and some rude guys started making fun of them sort of mockery. Tess came into the scene and manage to apprehend how tough those guys. Anyway, at the farmhouse the party started and everyone having so much fun but Tess feeling the anxiety and cannot join their happy moments. The celebrant sister came out to join Tess followed by the sister questioning Tess why she needs to spoil their sister's party. They were arguing when suddenly an arrow struck their younger sister's chest! Shocked of what had happened, the two older sisters took their younger sister's lifeless body inside the house and the next thing was more arrows hitting their house, walls and windows. Non-stop action followed. How they defeat those assailants? Watch for it.

Do you have PTSD? Do you have ANXIETY? Why so many people are worrying about the future? You know why? You don't have to be a war veteran to know and be aware that the war in other countries are being transferred already in your own countries. Be extra vigilant. Just like what an old professor/judge in my university, INFILTRATION happens most of the time when/where you least expect it to be.

E.M.P. 333 DAYS -  Electro Magnetic Pulse in 333 days.

It all begins with the grandma and her grand daughter driving all the way home when suddenly a great explosion in the sky happened and their car stopped. They have to walk home. They live in a remote farm land where neighbors started looting and gridlock happened. It didn't show much of how EMP had caused havoc in urban areas though only in that one pertinent rural location. There is power outage and only old cars powered by gas can function. It's low budget movie. The movie should have great impact if they also showed the urban or larger cities of how a huge power outage could cause massive, deep impact of how Electro-Magnetic Pulse could cause the devastation of the population.

How about another war movie: THE GREAT RAID. This is a mix of American actors, Filipino actors and Japanese actors in portrayal of soldiers during the Japanese-American-Filipino war in Philippines. The highlights of the movie: Before the arrival of Gen. Douglas McArthur in Philippines, rescue mission led by high ranking American soldier (Benjamin Bratt) and a Filipino soldier (Cesar Montano) planned how to raid and attack the Japanese highly-secured prison camp for captured American soldiers most of them sick of malaria in Cabanatuan city. Story unfolds on how intelligence is passed through civilians, through religious community, and through health care workers/providers. What happened through this pathway has proven to be the wrong way as spies are everywhere and one by one health care workers were then taken out from work and scrutinized then unfortunately executed through firing squad. The raid was successful however the "two soldiers " who they want to survive and rescue did not. Yup, what a disappointment!

Worst Than Barbarians!

 Latest Movies We Watched Recently:

WAITING FOR THE BARBARIANS - Whether this movie story is a true story or fiction it is something to think about as such story is somewhat what happened in the past actually based on History.

The story revolves around the middle-aged Magistrate (Mark Rylance)  stationed in the isolated outpost waiting for the high ranking officer to arrive. Colonel Joll (played by Johnny Depp) arrived at the outpost together with his men (soldiers) and they were given warm welcome by the Magistrate then after the feast in which Colonel Joll didn't bother eat nor drink he was ushered to the prison to let him see the two prisoners wanted for stealing. The two thieves were punished good enough to admit their sins but the Colonel Joll was actually a cruel man with punishment and tortured so severe that one of the prisoners died. You know what he died of? You have to do the replay or rewind of the video or disc if ever you missed what he died of. The other prisoner who had an unknown wound covered with blood still alive and was taken by Colonel Joll to their unknown journey and the Magistrate has to be on his outpost for the rest of the days and months until another officer came to visit then another surprise of a indigenous woman turned out a Mongolian woman who was badly wounded and crippled. The magistrate was so compassionate and kind to adopt her, treated her well and make sure she was cured and able to consciously get home to her tribe. The magistrate and his men accompanied the Mongolian woman to her Mongolian tribe and the Mongols accepted his bulk of silver and spare their lives and two horses. However, when the Magistrate went back home he was prosecuted by the warrant officer (played by Robert Pattinson - The Twilight lead actor) for leaving his outpost. He was hanged from the tree dressed in a woman's clothing. The humiliation is so severe in some ways but his life was spared. Days passed by and suddenly all the soldiers were rushing in panic when one of the lone officers came back home alone sitting on the horse tied down and his upper skull missing. Where's the brain? His head's missing his brains! That's darn cruel message that lead them to evacuate right immediately. Everyone tried to escape and only the Magistrate and few of his men stayed to wait for the barbarians.

HUMANITY BUREAU - I hope this is just fiction. It cannot be a true story because this is worst than the Barbarians.

A Humanity Bureau agent portrayed by Nicolas Cage had to do his job by visiting those people in the government list for resettlement. Some of these people were living in certain isolated community and  receiving government assistance or benefit but because they were in the list for evacuation or resettlement they must comply with the law. However some people cannot accept the fact of being in those "resettlement" they become aggressive to fight for their rights. In that time period, harsh toxic environment where water is scarce and production of food has its limited supply the law must be obeyed that you must give more,  more than what you can take. At the end, do you know or want to know the ending? Or you should have to watch the ending for yourself?
