Thank God it's Sunday!What to look forward today? Same old story or same old news? lol. As usual the news in the WH is the same.  I think the POTUS would be happier if he's back in his show THE APPRENTICE instead. Why not? He likes the words, "You're fired!"

What to watch at AMC 6 pm slot when The Walking Dead is on vacation?

TV Series we are missing to watch: Fear the Walking Dead, Designated Survivor, American Idol, etc.

Had finished watching the movie "Life of the Party" of  Melissa McCarthy in the lead role. It was a wacky, comedy movie with a funny twist. Revenge in such a fashionable comedy of error? Whatever!
Watch it and get the surprise you are waiting for.
Deanna's nerdy revenge is more fitting as the title.
Whether the tomb has no body in it or it's only a tomb without the body?
Maybe it's a pizza!
Deanna will soon ride horses and grave digging her part of the adventure left behind
by Indiana Jones. Maybe, maybe not.

Name Game

Are we lucky or fortunate to have ONLY ONE NAME given to us by our parents? Unlike other people from China, Korea, India, Middle East because they have their original names in the language that they know their whole life and they get to use their English names when they moved to other countries.

Americans, Canadians, Filipinos, British and Europeans stick to their original names given to them by their parents and the same names used for baptism. We don't really use other names nor English names unless you are actually born American, Canadian or British.

So, it turned out that the Chinese, Koreans, East Indians and the Muslim people are fortunate to have English names aside from having their original names. They have some kind of COVER.

Now you know the differences.

Curiosity

It was 3 nights ago when my daughter and I slept late because we watched 2 1/2 hour watching until past 11 pm watching this Chinese movie entitled "Along With The Gods: The Two Worlds."

Story: A firefighter jumped from a tall building to help save the life of a young girl whom he saved from a blazing fire, the building where she lives was on fire. To jump from a building is the last resort and that's what he did. The girl survived but the firefighter did not. The firefighter was taken in custody in limbo maybe that's what you call purgatory and the 3 grim reapers would like to save him from the fires of hell but he must undergo different tests and trials and if he passed  he is allowed to live through the process of reincarnation. However, after passing 2 trials and at the middle of the trials something went wrong, so the head grim reaper went to the other world to find out and learned that the firefighter's brother was accidentally killed by another soldier in a military post. Now that there are two people who were vying to the process the firefighter's life is almost doomed because they also discovered that he tried to kill his own mother and the other brother is a good man. Weird story. Anyway, if you are interested to watch this movie in video you have to read the subtitles on the screen for English translation, otherwise you just have to listen attentively to their dialogues in their native tongue which is Korean language. Heh! It could be Chinese! There are many interesting Chinese and Korean movies however their actors and actresses can't communicate better in English. It's you who will have to adjust.

For whatever reasons those two brothers were devils in disguise by the power bestowed upon them by whom? The 3 grim reapers have to be saved by the 2 brothers who I think were either Cain and Abel. LOL. Changing the story? Why not? My stories are better.

Let me tell you that Chinese languages are available in Fookien, Mandarin, Cantonese. They all are different in many ways such as accent, tone, intonation, spelling, meaning, character and manner of speaking.

Farewell To A Good President

 I first heard of his name while watching CNN on our old black and white television set. His name was mentioned and his photo on the screen of our TV. It was at the time when there was civil unrest in the Philippines and the supposedly few groups of Filipinos are trying to overthrow the Marcos regime. Anyway, that was long time ago. When he was seated in power in Washington DC as the 41st US President, George H.W. Bush the Media has exploited his military service during World War II. He was an accomplished pilot, an experienced politician, he was a gentleman, he was a good father and good husband to the former First Lady Barbara Bush. He looks like John Wayne!? There is nothing spicy or bad remarks thrown at him. I think the Media, the Press and many journalists like his nature, human nature and his sense of humor. Just like his son former US Pres. GW Bush they have the same kind of humor. You probably knew and aware of that if you happened to be watching CNN all the time. However, better watch CBC NEWS Network for well balanced news reporting.

In attendance to the funeral service: Bush family, clan, relatives, friends, men in uniform (military), the priests, the clergy and the church's choir.

US Pres. Trump and his wife FL Melania, former US Presidents and their wives and important diplomats came to attend the funeral service and only chosen few, those people who had closest relationship with the former US Pres., had given the chance to speak for the eulogy service and only the most unforgettable, good memories, funny anecdotes were mentioned and heard.

 Former Prime Minister of Canada, Brian Mulroney  is one of his close friends and his speech has a message so unforgettable and stick to everyone's mind.

 Where is the highest ceiling? What is the meaning of CAVU? C. A. V.  U.  You should have listened.
I can't ask him anymore to "read his lips."

It was kind of sad for this family that their dearly beloved father passed away at the time when Christmas celebration is just few days away. But who would be happy when their Mother will be happier to see their Father together side by side, face to face in heaven with God?

Another Cinderella Themed inspired Movie

What else could we expect from an asian made or produced movies? It should be epic and magnanimous in proportion, spectacular and richly endowed in its rich, exotic culture and tradition that depicts the old cultural lingo and prominence of grandeur and stature especially if the lead roles are wealthy.

The most common story would be the gap between each families when it comes to wealth, connections and matriarchal dominance. There could be warlords and slaves and slavery is like customary part of the deal when rich and poor collides.

Well, it's my first time to watch the highly acclaimed, Hollywood endorsed movie CRAZY, RICH ASIANS. Why crazy? Are they crazy enough to be rich or their attitude are crazy enough to stir controversy?

Story: Rachel Chu, an Economics professor whose living in with Nick Young. Nick  (Nick's resemblance to Elvis Presley is obvious) was invited by his best friend in Singapore to be his best man for  his wedding and they both went to Singapore to attend the wedding. Rachel doesn't know much about Nick's family if it had been informed by her friend Akwafina ( has resemblance to Miley Cyrus) who lives in a mansion together with her odd parents, brother and sister (by its standard of living, they are rich!) but Nick's family is more than rich. How much richer could be somebody and how to tell them apart? Is it by the kind of house they are having? Their fashion clothes and jewelries? The massive tracts of land? Fat checkbooks, lavish modern vehicles and lots of bling- blings? Stocks and bonds? It turned out Nick's family owned hotels and residential homes in Singapore. Nick doesn't looked rich by the way he is dressed like an ordinary man of his age. I didn't know or not familiar that Singaporeans are dark in color when it comes to their complexion. I first thought Singaporeans have white complexions just like most Chinese. Then I remember that most Singaporeans are part Chinese-Malays. So that was it, their family is rich but stingy. It's a common trait. Stereotyping? Ah, they knew such trait is dominant among them. They wont be rich if not for being stingy and that's part of their culture and tradition. While Rachel seems to know how to play the part, she knew what she likes, like that of the big crusted emerald gemstone on Nick's mother's finger. She turned down the diamond ring because she would like to have that huge emerald stone. Some people are crazy and they will play to win it.

My observation to this movie went beyond asking why Nick's lips are so dark compared with other actors in the movie? It was explained that Nick smokes cigar. Or he could be a blue baby. Baby dumpling? It could be a dark lipstick. Did you know that make-up is now available for actors? What else? Akwafina and Mateo (Nico Santos of Superstore show) are scene stealers. Two actors whose natural acting and demure facial recognition are unforgettable in this Asian movie, they are scene stealers. Then the sudden entrance of  the movie actress Kris Aquino dressed in proverbial stunning yellow gown at the wedding. She's pretty. It was just spur of the moment scene but her fans love it. Then the wedding theme which kind of splendid ritual to the amazement of the viewers and invited guests... that's one of a kind. It's not red carpeted nuptial, water flows at the aisle of the grassy, flowery, lagoon OMG! Plus the wedding song? That's one of the magical scene for this movie. I first thought the bride will turn into a mermaid and Aquaman will save the day.  Ha ha ha! Just kidding!

Michelle Yeoh is still the most famous Asian dramatic actress and whose presence always goes back to action, epic movies such as Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. Rachel Chu played by actress ? Lainey Lui of the Social? No? Rachel is played by Constance Wu and actor Henry Golding played the role of Nick Young.

I think there will be a part 2 for this movie. If there is please dress Rachel with beautiful clothes. She needs it more than the rest of the extras. Darn Economics!

I think in our time, in our generation we wont know who are RICH and WEALTHY. Because the rich are frugal, they don't look rich and they don't dress rich enough to be looked at. I mean the so called "rich & wealthy" were actually rich with debts and being hunted down by the IRS.

Better live according to your means. But it's okay to dress nicely, neatly and grooming should be in good terms with your good personality. Yung mga mayayabang dyan pretending to be rich please show us your income tax. Yun lang.

Earthquake: Duck, Cover & Hold

Yey! It's first day of December 2018. It was just yesterday the 30th of November when suddenly the people from Anchorage, Alaska were rattled by 7.0 earthquake. I was watching the news on TV (CTV and Global News) when somebody from Alaska reported what had just happened at their house, the shaking of the hanging ceiling lamp, the movements of the walls and other stuff shaking to the wave (P or S wave? Don't know). They sent their videos of what happened during the shaking and rattling. I don't know the cause of the quake, nor the one reporting the news.

Seismologists can fill up the gap on our most common question of what's the cause of earthquake?

We can only assume that quake is either tectonic, volcanic, seismic, explosion of some kind, underwater explosion, oil and gas explosion at the bottom of the sea? tsunami... what could be? Nobody knows. A meteor or asteroid hit and struck  the planet but that's totally impossible. Satellites from stratosphere falling its debris? I don't know.

Aliens space craft landing on our planet? That's absurd and ridiculous.

As of now, nobody knows the impact of 7.0 on richter scale and if that 7.0 magnitude quake happened in a populated country with skyscrapers that's absolutely scary and the impact could be magnanimous in proportion.

There could be a BIG ONE! But to wait for it is when and where?

We can only PRAY and BE PREPARED.
