Harvey The Menace

Do you always hear the words "Houston, We have a problem!"

Well, Houston, Texas has a huge problem since Harvey the hurricane had a landfall in Houston. From 140 to 150 km/hr wind speed had hit the state of Texas causing so much havoc, wreckage,  a calamity they never expected and if you are watching the news network of the massive flood all over their urban city and look at the mess of such disaster is totally, totally unbelievable but that's what it is... you can only just look, stare at the mess, the high water, wading through flood water. People walking on water, small boats on the roads and streets, flood inside the houses, apartments and buildings. Boats sinking and cars, trucks stuck on flood water.

Before Harvey the hurricane was reported before the landfall, the people already had panic buying so food wont be a problem for those people in Houston and by looking at how rich those people there that kind of calamity is not that a huge problem. But according to the news the flood had several people dead from drowning? I don't know, you really have to watch the news on TV for further details.

Just pray for their immediate and safe recovery of this kind of mess of epic proportion. On search and rescue? You know that Texas is a very wealthy state of the United States and they have the necessary emergency response team and probably they have the military who are working hard to do their jobs.

Viewing the videos and news photos of such disaster in Houston can't help compare the flood that ravaged Edmonton and Calgary years ago. That it's hard to believe that an urban community can end up in such massive flood and the flood waters can stay for as long as many days on that particular place.

Making A Difference

OMNI Channel is now a channel for Filipino tele-novela which is good for those Filipino overseas workers and Filipino families living in foreign lands they have that channel that caters Philippine-made movies and teleserye.

One of those Filipino series has ended and I forgot the title, LOL. It has that familiar story about an elf (Elfino, Inoy) who fell in love with a mortal human being named Pepay (Princess). It was a long story of rags to riches ala Cinderella fantasy movie. So, tapos na ang teleseries na yun and what happened after that it was replaced with another documentary sort of Filipino families living in Yukon territory. Wow! Ang layo ng place nila and that place is really remote and cold. I couldn't believe that there are so many Filipinos in that part of the land. Listen to what they have to say and although they are in Canada they are not that 100% happy. Who will be happy in another land?

Kung yung ngang mga mayayaman and very popular Filipinos who moved to the U.S. nagsibalik na sa Pinas dahil iba ang life sa ibang countries. No matter what happened, in whatever situation, nobody feels comfortable in foreign lands. You may say that " citizen ka na sa country na yun pero your face hasn't change much, mukha ka pa ring Filipino" unless na bigla ka na lang pumuti, naging blonde ang hair mo through hairdye or biglang tumangos ang ilong mo but then ang strong naman ng accent mo when you speak the English language." So wala rin. So yung iba bumabalik rin after few years in their own land because there's no pretension and maybe there's really nothing to brag about. Kanya-kanyang drama. Mabuti pang maging humble ka na lang at wag ng magyabang. Kasi kung sino yung wala sila pa ang mayabang.

Then another documentary, "Foreign Domestics: The Right To Stay" had hit the airwaves. Medyo luma na yung film na ito about DH or Filipina Domestic Helpers in Canada and they rallied to gain access or rather to stay permanently in Canada. They had that controversial but honest sincere slogan " GOOD ENOUGH TO WORK. GOOD ENOUGH TO STAY." Ang galing! After all those DH are actually College Graduates and some of them were teachers, accountant,  nurses, and God knows what their professional work in the Philippines before they became DH in Canada. DH workers everywhere hailed their work is as important as any other kind of job which is true! It's one of the most valuable hardest jobs in the world. Their work as housekeeper, doing household chores of cleaning the house: scrubbing tubs and toilets, cooking, cleaning the kitchen and its appliances, cleaning glass windows, looking after young children or babies, and other chores such as marketing and cooking extra food for parties, etc. OMG! All these work are the works of MOTHERS! However, when the rich family is super rich they hire Nannies or DH to do the Mother's work (except of course being the wife of the employer). So, what these smart DH did to change the lives of nannies and housemaids in Canada is something to be proud of. THEY MADE A DIFFERENCE! They won their battle. Their battle, their cause, their demonstrations were captured on TV and it was brought to life on the CBC News Radio c/o Mr. Peter Mansbridge ( He was so young way back then when this event happened in Canada). Lumang story na but still applicable in today's time.

What's New?

It was 9 degrees C. yesterday and it was 12 degrees C. this morning and I don't know if the weather temperature will go down or increase this afternoon at the island. Cloudy day. Remember it's now August 25, 2017 and it's Friday. TGIF.

Storms had a landfall in Manila, Philippines recently, then in China and now hurricane will have a landfall in states of America. I don't know the center of calamity, you have to watch the latest news on your own TV in the U.S.

What's new? Of course there is always something new. We can't always rely  from the past. The most important thing to do is worry about what will happen today, tomorrow and the future... do you really have to worry about the future?

Just think about of today for now then tomorrow. I know that advance thinking is better and if you don't have much money you have to start being thrifty and wise.

From Newton to Einstein

College Encyclopedia- Galahad Books
The image above of Albert Einstein, the physicist, the genius had his experiment conducted in the year 1910 during the solar eclipse. In another book that I read, the solar eclipse happened in the year 1919.

Whatever! As long the experiment was successful and the people were then able to view from the sky the "Solar Eclipse" and how it happened right before their eyes.

The point is that Einstein had  replaced the NEWTONIAN theory into EINSTEIN theory of gravitational force.

Reverse Angle

Once in a while there are new movies on TV worth watching and that which leaves a change of heart on what error or mistakes some people are doing in their lives, in the field of work and how humility will set you free.

REVERSE ANGLE is a story of a famous journalist-reporter who takes her work professionally but most of the time "unprofessionally" by not doing her homework properly. She gets to the point and place of work and interviewed the subject of her report and bluntly take advantage of what she can find that will lead to controversial issues raising garbage and that which promote hatred, bigotry and personal issues. However, her professional work was cut short when two gunmen tried to kill her and luckily she was able to escape from crashed and burned vehicle she was driving. She had amnesia and bruises but that doesn't stop her from finding all the clues leading to her traumatic experiences of what news reporting is all about. She was grateful to have at least "few people" (her TV camera man and a doctor who helped her revived her own self of being human again).

There are two reverse angles in this movie. The second one is the "invention of the scientist about a prototype which offered a concept to a different kind of power source." The first reverse angle is you know that eh?

The study of Psychology and Reverse Psychology is a matter of theory for some individuals but to react and find solution of such theory is a matter of faith, time and space.

Tomorrow, many people..  of millions of people from different parts of the world will gather round to view the Solar Eclipse which according to many scientists is one in a hundred years event. The total solar eclipse actually happened in the year 1919 when Albert Einstein, the world renowned physicist was able to finally conduct an experiment and it was at the time of the solar eclipse. He was successful and the result of the experiment made him famous and bankable.

Alien Covenant

What to watch this time? When it gets boring in the internet world then it's time to watch a rented DVD.

We watched ALIEN COVENANT. I know so many alien movies and they never stop to scare us and there is always something to new to find out and know and find out if one movie after another can scare the hell out of us.

ALIEN COVENANT is a Ridley Scott film. Know what if you think this is a sequel to previous ALIEN movies of Sigourney movie the answer is no. Alien Covenant is a sequel of the sci-fi horror movie PROMETHEUS. Surprise! Many surprises in this latest alien movie and I don't like to spoil the story so better watch it while it's still hot.

Amazing Race Canada

Do you follow AMAZING RACE tv show? The American Amazing race is hosted by Phil Keoughan while Amazing Race Canada is hosted by Jon Montgomery.

American version of Amazing Race is finished with Brooke and her partner winning the last leg of the race. Brooke the complainer, Brooke the woman who helplessly asked for help most of the time when she can no longer get hold of herself because the task is too much for herself... was the winner? How that happened? I heard she is a lawyer. Really?! I first thought she is an actress.

Amazing Race Canada is not over yet. Last week's episode had the contestants travel from Canada to China, Thailand through the Sinorama guided tour and then returned to Canada to take Canadian Citizenship test. Each person had different booklet of test, questions such as: Who is the first French-Canadian Prime Minister of Canada which is Sir Wilfrid Laurier. Another question is when the CN Tower was built. Do you know? Maybe in 1976.

Why those kind of questionnaires? Maybe the Portmans Bridge is included in the questionnaire or who is the first PM of Canada? Or what is the true population of Canada. Who knows? Maybe the highest mountain of Canada will be included in the test. Who knows? Too many Canadians don't even know the answers to the CCT. Some of them don't even know they are in American territory or at the territory of Russia. You know when the iceberg melted the surface of the land decreased like a wrinkled prune and suddenly the 3 large countries united with its people not knowing there's really no border separating them. China has invisible curtain and Great Wall. Philippines had the iron curtain before. Others have firewall.

CN Tower is probably included in the test because it is the highest structure/tower in Canada and in the world for 32 years until Burj Khalifa tower was built. But is that Khalifa tower a tower of power or tower of Babel?

The contestants are not allowed to proceed the next phase of the leg until they passed the test. Few of them passed the test first time trying and some of them have to take the tests so many times (several times)  until they pass. It seems the test instructor had great patience to withstand such incredible pressure of long waiting and waiting for them to pass.

You failed, you must try again and again until you succeed. Hey, it's like gambling. You can try and try again to win the lottery. However CCT is somewhat a matter of formality. Could be experimental in nature.

OMG! Paschendale is finished. The Discovery Passage was built and some other man-made passages will be done just keep on praying that you wont be bungee jumping and or climbing to the highest point of the land or building.
